Sabooh S. Mubbashar, M.D.

Sabooh S. Mubbashar, M.D, is a double board certified Child, Adolescent AND Adult psychiatrist. He graduated from the residency-training program in Adult Psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine. He then completed his advanced fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Yale Child Study Center. Additionally, Dr. Mubbashar completed his fellowship in Psychopharmacology at the Yale School of Medicine and West Haven's Veteran's Affairs Hospital.

Dr. Mubbashar has been the recipient of multiple awards and medals during his academic career. He received the "Ira R. Levine Award" from the Yale School of Medicine, awarded to a physician for "clinical excellence and providing outstanding care to severely ill psychiatric patients." Additionally he has also been the recipient of the "President's Gold Medal" awarded for the highest grades obtained in a medical education entrance examination.

Dr. Mubbashar has published his clinical research in multiple indexed journals including clinical trials and has also presented his original research work at several international conferences, including the Society for Neuroscience's annual meetings. He is also an active member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

With over more than a decade of clinical experience, presently, Dr. Mubbashar is engaged in practicing child, adolescent and adult psychiatry and holds special interest/expertise in advanced psychopharmacology.

He currently holds medical director positions at the Senior Behavioral Health Unit at Sharon Hospital (providing specialized and multi-disciplinary based care for geriatric patients with dementias and significant mental health needs) and Adelbrook Behavioral and Developmental Services (the largest child and adolescent residential treatment facility in the state providing care for individual with autism spectrum disorders). He is also the medical director for the Autism Unit at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain, CT.

Dr. Mubbashar currently serves as a member of the Behavioral Health Partnership Oversight Committee for the State of Connecticut Legislative Office.

Julie M. Piepenbring, Ph.D., LCSW

Julie Piepenbring graduated with her doctorate from Fordham University and is a licensed clinical social worker. She has taught in the social work department at Southern Connecticut State University since 2012 and is currently the Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer at Adelbrook Behavioral and Developmental Services, Inc.

Dr. Piepenbring’s research and academic interests have focused on Autism and the impact of ASD on families, culturally competent clinical practice, and organizational leadership. She has presented on ASD related topics at national and local conferences and was an invited panelist at Autism Speaks.

Dr. Piepenbring has been providing clinical therapy to children and adults for more than ten years. She has extensive experience in trauma recovery, addiction, mood and anxiety disorders and childhood disorders. She specializes in Cognitive Behavioral therapies including Schema therapy, MBT and DBT; as well as Solution Focused, Crisis Interventions, Family Systems, Child-Centered, Gestalt, Adlerian, and Filial Play therapies.

She strongly believes in practice principles of empowerment, honesty, and collaboration, which are further complimented by her expertise in providing an array of evidence-based treatments. Treatment approaches are tailored to each individual’s needs and strengths to reach desired goals and experience lasting change.
